Today

Happy Birthday, Jesus and Merry CHRISTmas to family and friends.

This is an extra special Christmas for Ivan and me as we will be enjoying our little Elijah's first Christmas. We went to Church this evening (well, last night) for the children's play, Elijah loved it. Ivan is not home yet so I read Luke 2 to Elijah. We will be reading "The Christmas Story" to Elijah every Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone, may you all be blessed with knowing the true meaning.

Elijah's First Illness

For the last 10 days my poor babe has had a cough and cold. We went to see his pediatrician and discovered Elijah has an infection in both ears. He is almost finished with his antibiotics now and is doing much better. Last night he slept all night with no coughing and seems bright and happy this morning.
Prayers answered, thank you Lord.

Elijah

Elijah turned 7 months old today and in the doctor's office he rolled over from his back to his tummy for the first time. Elijah did this a few times but would not do it again when we got home! Maybe tomorrow. Oh, he weighed 15lbs and 1 ounce! My little baby is growing.

Billy Graham

This is a quote I read on Billy Graham's website billygraham.org
"If I am anything it is because God is everything"

That is one of the best and truest things I have ever read.
It is a great website, I hope you will take a look at it.

Funny and short clip

Anyone who knows me knows I am very anti horse-racing however this ad is really very funny.
Enjoy the ad but please do not support horse racing. Only ask me why not if you are prepared to listen to me tell you the mostly unknown horrors behind the scenes of this sport of kings.

Surgery

Yesterday (2 Dec) I had surgery on my arm to remove some screws from my ulna. I had broken my ulna near my wrist back in February and when it did not heal after being in a cast I had a plate and screws inserted in March. I am back at home and trying to take it easy! One-handed typing is a nuisance.
Lord, thank You for seeing me safely through this surgery.

Shoeboxes

Our Samaritan's Purse shoebox collection was a success.
Our Church, First Baptist, Geneva collected and filled 91 boxes and some cash donations.
We pray God will use those boxes and the millions more collected worldwide to reach needy children with gifts and even more importantly, the Gospel.

Thanks Geneva!

Ivan's fav toy!

This past week Ivan flew the first UPS 747 into Dubai. The 747 is Ivan's favorite airplane.
This is him on the short, final approach less than a mile out.
Claudette, thanks for the photo!

Our Anniversary

Today, the 19th, is my wedding anniversary. 4 years since I married the man of my dreams, the man I thank God for every day. Ivan is spending the day in Dubai and then flying to Koln, Germany while I am home with Elijah and the animals and then having Thanksgiving dinner with my Church family. So, I am still going out to eat ;) It is going to be a great day.

Happy Anniversary Dear Husband, I love you xox

Samaritan's Purse

One of my favorite organizations is Samaritan's Purse run by Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham and the late Ruth Bell Graham.

http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php

My favorite part of Samaritan's Purse is the annual Operation Christmas Child. This is when you fill a shoebox, or plastic container about the size of a shoebox, with goodies for a needy child. We pack basic hygiene items such as soap, washcloth, toothbrush and paste, hairbrush and also deodorant if the box is for an older child. School supplies, small toys, stickers, socks and books are all great to add to the box. You can designate whether your box is for a boy or a girl and an age range. Many families choose to match boxes to the children in their own families. Samaritan's Purse then ships these boxes around the world to children, many of whom may have never had such a gift. However, the best part is the Gospel message that Samaritan's Purses includes in the box in the child's own language. An opportunity to teach the child about Christ and salvation is also provided. What an awesome gift. The child will learn that you sent this gift because of your love for our Lord Jesus Christ.
My prayer is that everyone reading this will be inspired to fill a shoebox or even a few shoeboxes. It may be too late for this year's collection but that means you have most of 2009 to collect items and fill lots of boxes :)

Please check out Samaritan's Purse and see if you agree with me that it is a wonderful organization!
Thank you.
